Congrats
hello hello...
I'm amazed by what people can come up with these days. I saw this partial die cutting technique and so many ideas started running in my head for birthday cards, thank you cards, baby cards... For this post, I thought I would try it for a congratulatory card for a graduate. However, with the colors I ended up using, it kind of looks like a congratulations card for a wedding.
After die cutting the letters onto the Basic Gray cardstock, I stuck it on top using dimensionals. You can kind of see it better in the picture below. I wrapped white satin ribbon around it and glued a few flowers from the Eastern Blooms stamp set by Stampin' Up! that I stamped on white cardstock and cut out. Enjoy!
Supplies Used:
Cardstock - SU Basic Gray, Whisper White
Patterned Paper - American Crafts I Do Collection
Stamps - SU Eastern Blooms
Ink - SU Basic Gray, Chalk Box Rose Coral, VersaMagic Pixie Dust
Other: Whisper White Satin Ribbon, PTI Block Alphabet Die Collection

It's been a "whale"
Get it? ha. But it really has. Lots of changes the past year. New car... New job... New place... New love. All for the better :) After seeing this post, I felt inspired to make a card using the same layering technique. If you have not visited Maile Belle's blog, Simply Stamped, I suggest you take a peek. I love her style of making cards.
So on to the card, shall we? First off, I used white cardstock to make a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card. To make the waves, cut light blue cardstock into strips 3 3/4" wide. I used a pencil to draw wavy lines and then cut three cards in 3 strips with differing heights. I adhered the longest one directly onto the card. You can't really tell from the picture above, but I used pop-up dimensionals to attach the middle layer. The sentiment, from Papertrey Ink's Whale Wishes stamp set, was stamped in Stampin' Up's Basic Gray. Love this stamp set. The whale is so cute!
Supplies Used
Cardstock: white, light blue
Stamp: Whale Wishes (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Basic Gray, Bashful Blue (Stampin' Up)
Other: Whale Wishes Die (Papertrey Ink)
