Happy For You

Today's supposed to be "clean my apartment" day... but obviously I'm not doing that if I'm writing this post.  Ha.  So much for that.  I washed my dishes, though.  Well, my dishwasher did.  I guess that doesn't count.  Let's just say I'm taking a little break. :)  Before I get back to my chores, I wanted to post this card I made for someone who's just finished up the school year and ready for the summer.  I used a dark blue cardstock as the base.  Then, using the Circle Circus stamp set from Stampin' Up!, I created a background on white cardstock.  The "happy for you" sentiment came from the Happy Everything set from Stampin' Up! as well.  I usually use this for birthdays, so I was happy when I got to use it for a different occasion.  I stamped the "happy for you" sentiment on the card first and then the different circles.  Unfortunately, after stamping everything, I found that the sentiment wasn't popping out as much as I wanted it to.  Therefore, I used the Martha Stewart glitter in hematite to make it stand out a little.  My camera isn't high-tech, but I tried to catch as much of the glimmer as I could in the picture.  Anyhoo... enjoy you're day.  Gotta get back to my chores.  Happy Saturday!

KWerner Readers' Choice Color Inspiration No. 3

Here's my card for KWerner's next color challenge.  I saw this technique in a card making book and always wanted to apply use it.  Who knew hole punches could turn into something cute?  I'm giving this card to my seester-in-law for her birthday.  The sentiment comes from Stampin' Up's Curvy Verses set.  The vase kind of looked plain to me so I stamped the tail end of the butterfly stamp below to add a little accent to the vase.  I also pierced curvy lines along the bottom of the card.  Enjoy!

Supplies used:
Cardstock: dark purple, chocolate chip, cream, olive, celery green
Stamps: butterfly stamp, Stampin Up's Curvy Verses
Tools:  corner punch, hole punch, Cricut, Lasting Impressions Flourish Borders Embossing Plate

Embellish Color Challenge

I've had my eye on a few stamp sets from Stampin Up! and finally got the courage (and funds) to buy them.  They arrived just in time for a color challenge by Embellish Magazine.  The coral color made me a little nervous since I've never used it before, but thought I'd give it a try anyway.  I folded a piece of coral cardstock into a 5"x4" card and used a corner punch to round out the corners.  Then, using my Cricut machine, I cut out a scalloped oval on white cardstock and stamped the "kindness" sentiment from the Define Your Life stamp set in Chocolate Chip ink.  To get it to fit just inside the cutout, I used my handy dandy Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.

I stamped a few of the trees from the Trendy Trees Stamp Set in Cameo Coral and Chocolate Chip ink onto white cardstock and cut them out using a square punch.  I then cut out a slightly larger square on the yellow cardstock to make a little border for my trees.  The bottom of the card seemed a little bare with just the scallop cutout so I ran a thin dark brown ribbon through it to add a little more color.

Enjoy and have a great rest of your weekend! :)
